HSA · FSA · LPFSA, organized

Every receipt, accounted for.

Snap a photo of a medical receipt. Podupu reads it, checks each line item against HSA, FSA, and LPFSA eligibility, and keeps a reviewed record for your household — ready to claim this year or years from now.

పొదుపుpodupu means “savings” in Telugu. The goal is simple: no benefit dollar left behind because a receipt went missing.

How it works

  1. Capture a receipt

Take a photo or upload an image. Podupu reads the provider, service date, total, and line items for you.

  2. Review before you save

Check the extracted details and each line item's HSA, FSA, or LPFSA eligibility, and fix anything that isn't right.

  3. Keep a durable record

Receipts stay organized by household, with the image and details together, so they're there when you need them.

  4. Prepare a claim

Enter the amount you want reimbursed, and Podupu matches the receipts that cover it and tracks the claim.

Your household at a glance

After you sign in, the dashboard sums up your household's HSA, FSA, and LPFSA receipts, so you always know what's left to claim.

Where every dollar stands

Four totals show what's ready to claim, what's been reimbursed this year, what didn't qualify, and what's waiting on you. Tap any total to see the receipts behind it.

An illustrative growth estimate

For unclaimed HSA/FSA dollars, the dashboard can estimate what they might have earned if left invested, at an assumed 7% annual return. It's an illustration, not a forecast or advice.

Commonly missed items

"Did you know?" tips point out eligible expenses people often forget to claim, straight from Podupu's eligibility rules.

One household, everyone's own login

Medical expenses are usually a family affair. Podupu keeps one shared household record, and everyone who helps manage it signs in as themselves.

Your own login, one shared record

Invite your spouse or partner, and you each sign in with your own email link, passkey, or Google account to the same receipts, claims, and dashboard.

Capture once, both see it

A receipt either of you captures is in the shared record as soon as it’s saved, eligibility and all. No forwarding photos or merging spreadsheets.

Claims on shared accounts

Either of you can prepare and track claims against a shared benefit account, so whoever has a minute can take care of it.

Dependents included

Add children or other dependents and assign each receipt to whoever the care was for. Only you and your spouse or partner sign in.

HSA, FSA, and LPFSA in brief

All three let you pay for qualified medical expenses with tax-advantaged dollars — broadly, costs to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease, not things that are merely good for general health. They work differently in ways that matter for your receipts.

HSA Health Savings Account

Available if you're covered by a qualifying high-deductible health plan and meet the other IRS eligibility rules. Unused money generally carries over from year to year, and the account belongs to you.

FSA Health Flexible Spending Account

Offered through an employer plan. Unused money is generally lost at the end of the plan year, though some plans offer a grace period or a limited carryover. Your plan documents set the deadlines.

LPFSA Limited-Purpose FSA

A narrower FSA, typically for dental and vision care (and sometimes preventive care), that some plans offer so it can be paired with an HSA. Exactly what it covers depends on your plan.

Podupu flags each line item as eligible, ineligible, or needing review to help you organize — it isn't a binding tax determination. Your plan administrator and IRS rules decide what qualifies.

Why keep receipts, even after you've paid?

Some people with an HSA choose to pay a qualified expense out of pocket, leave their HSA money invested, and reimburse themselves later — sometimes years later. It's an option, not a recommendation, and it only works if the receipts are still there when you need them.

Why some people do it

  • Money left in an HSA can stay invested, and earnings aren't taxed while they remain in the account.
  • IRS guidance doesn't set a deadline for reimbursing yourself for a qualified expense incurred after you opened the HSA.
  • A later reimbursement can be tax-free if the expense was qualified, hasn't been reimbursed from another source, and wasn't taken as an itemized deduction.

What to weigh

  • Investments can lose value, and account or fund fees reduce what you keep.
  • Paying out of pocket means that cash isn't available for other needs today.
  • You need records that show each expense qualified — potentially for many years.
  • Rules and your own tax situation can change. Money withdrawn for anything other than qualified medical expenses is taxable and may owe an additional 20% tax.

When you're ready to reimburse

Enter the amount you want back and choose the account. Podupu picks the fewest eligible, unclaimed receipts that cover it — preferring older ones when it's a tie — and turns them into a draft claim you can submit to your plan.
